“Vilja” is a name from a very old story and song from ages past Austria-Hungary. My parents came to San Francisco, California from Austria in 1956. Born, raised, and living most of my life in San Francisco, I now live in the northern California wine country.

As our Austrian parents were passionate musicians, my siblings and I were raised singing Austrian folk music as well as listening with love and depth to music by the '“great” composers from the earliest time. Our musical roots run from past generations; they run deep and beyond consciousness.

My professional life has been doing Executive Assistant work, in the last ten years in neurosciences surgical/academic/research settings, and my academic background is Classics and Comparative Literature.

When growing up, my mother used to talk a lot about her maternal grandmother in Austria, who did readings for others in the valley where she lived as well as surrounding valleys to help find answers, peace and understanding. This was especially helpful as her lifetime included two world wars. Generations later, while I’m always drawn to metaphysical poetry, absorbed by spiritual and metaphysical questions about God and nature, life and transformation, and humanity’s striving for beauty through challenge, practicing meditation and continuous spiritual dedication and development have provided deeper insights and the greatest nourishment for the soul.
